Sail Liberty

Sail Liberty is a 1904-styled Friendship sloop that makes you feel transported back in time. Liberty is a boat with a multi-coastal past. Built in Massachusetts, her fiberglass hull was specially molded from a 1904 fisherman’s boat. She spent a good many years sailing the East Coast before she moved on to the Great Lakes, where she was engaged by a nonprofit to teach kids how to sail. Captain Philip found her a couple of years after that stint was finished and instantly fell in love.

He had Liberty hauled clear over the Rocky Mountains to a boatyard here in San Diego, where Captain Philip, his brother John, and a talented painter named David brought her back to her former glory over a period of 6 months. Now the Captain’s wife, Jessica, who you might have talked to on the phone, is responsible for keeping up the varnish, so if it needs a coat, you be sure to let her know. Their son, Hobie, works as a deckhand when needed.

Because of this remarkable family effort, Liberty is a classic yacht that is a breathtaking sight under sail and features intricate rigging, bronze fixtures, and rich, highly crafted woodwork that reveals the magnificent craftsmanship of a time gone by. Sit back and let the wind, waves, and tides guide you on a one-of-a-kind experience, sailing on the waters of San Diego Bay.
